Wordfest Crawley 2025

Wordfest Crawley 2025

This March, the annual Wordfest, Crawley festival of Words will be bouncing back into our town. For a whole month there will be a joyous celebration of language in all it’s forms; written, spoken, sung or drawn. The programme has been carefully curated to appeal across ages and interests.

We launch on March 1st with our wonderful Family Day at Crawley Library where children can meet favourite authors, enjoy stories and creative activities for free. This year we have author Sue Hendra of the famous Suoertato books.

At the heart of Wordfest, are the author events. Our Crime Panel this year features “Killer Queens” of crime, Ruth Ware and Dorothy Koomson in conversation with Derek Farrell. We also have our first Fantasy fiction panel, “Secret Worlds”. You can find out all about “Wilding “with Isabella Tree and “Adventuring Women” and our Book Club special focusses on romance writers. If you still want more, adults can join us for Noir At The Bar at the Punchbowl, where crime writers will gather to read from their latest works.

For pure fun, our comedy night rocks with headliner, award winner, Robert White. You can round up a team of six for the quiz night.

If you want to stretch your creative side we have many workshops in art and creative writing styles and structures. Even if English isn’t your first language, we’ve got you covered with “Mother Tongue” where people share the beauty of different languages and the unique character of the many dialects of the British Isles.

We have a new event to round things off musically.  “Crawley Sings” will feature the choirs of Crawley on the bandstand in Memorial Gardens. For a grand finale we will be inviting everyone to sing and sign with a simple Makaton rendition of a popular song. There will be workshops and a video to encourage as many people as possible to take part.

I hope you’ll join us for one or many events. Booking information and more details of events and artists are on our website with regular updates on Facebook and Instagram. Better still, join our mailing list via the website and get the information first.

See you in March
